| This activity walks students through the Hotmail™
email registration process. After each student secures an email address,
they are taught the fundamentals of using email. Student learn how
to address, send, retrieve, read and reply to email. This is all
accomplished while they are communicating with and learning about their
teacher and fellow students.
Why Hotmail?
1)Hotmail is an Internet based email which means you
can easily use it to send and receive emails from any computer that is
connected to the Internet.
2)It is easy to sign up for Hotmail.
3)When you send an email from Hotmail to another Hotmail
user, the email is sent instantly. Students don’t have to wait a
long time to receive an email sent by another student.
4)Hotmail is free.
Registration
The Hotmail registration process is fairly easy and self-explanatory.
For those who have never done it before, here are 7 easy steps to registration.
You may want to print out these instructions.
1) Go to www.Hotmail.com
.
2) Click on sign-up here.
3) Click on I Accept. You may want to go
over the acceptance policy with your students.
4) Fill out the form. Your login name will be the
first part of your email address. Your email address will be login
name@Hotmail.com . Click on Submit Registration.
5) If there is a problem, Hotmail will ask you to submit
the registration information again. Often the problem is that someone
else already has your login name. If this is the case, then it will
give you a number of possible other login names. You can choose one
of these or try another one of your choice. Click on Submit New Login
Name.
6) Confirm your information. At this time you are
asked to enters a "password hint question and answer." Enter a question
that you will always remember the exact answer to. If you forget
your password, you can always answer this question and Hotmail will tell
you your password. Click on OK.
7) If all is correct, you get The Welcome to Hotmail
screen and a chance to get customized news sent to you via email. You can
always come back to this. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and
click continue. This takes you to your in-box.
